This is awesome news announced at NCUG. This new integration will be available for Notes 11.0.1 FP3 and higher implemented into your Notes mail template. I haven't seen it myself but two fellow HCL Ambassadors have already blogged about it.

Now that this has been announced publicly at NCUG, btw congrats Hogne for setting up a very useful event, I can talk about DOMI. Me and other Ambassadors have tested it in the last weeks but we were under NDA so we couldn’t share our thoughts.

During the webinar me and Heather ran out of time so we did not have time to talk about all the points that are highlighted in the slides. Here are some details on those point that we did not cover

How to pass a Domino V12 OneTouch JSON to your pod or container

By Daniel Nashed | 5/3/21 2:24 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

For Docker it is quite easy to pass the JSON file. You just add another volume into a known location. When using Kubernetes you can either pass data via screts or better juse a ConfigMap for your JSON file.

VMware PhotonOS -- Very efficient Container Linux OS

By Daniel Nashed | 4/30/21 1:38 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Today in a customer meeting one of the admins mentioned Photon OS. I never looked into it in detail. But if you are running Docker containers on VMware this could be a good choice for the host OS running on VMware. One of the installation options is a "Lightweight Container Host" VMware says: "Photon OS delivers just enough of a Linux operating system to efficiently run containers on" And from what I saw this is really the case! Plus it is very simple to install. I have tested it as a container host. It comes with Docker 19.03.15. That's not the latest but a good and stable version.

Domino Public key checking - Do it.

By Cormac McCarthy | 4/29/21 2:04 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

HCL are really on top of their game on security and so is Domino. You may have recently seen a blog I did for HCL on HCL Domino v12: The 4 New Security Features You’ve Been Waiting for However it is really important not to assume that your environment is completely secure. This blog today is more back to the fundamentals of Domino security and one setting in particular. I complete health checks and security audits of environments all the time. On most environments where Domino People have not been before there is one setting that is consistently overlooked. It’s on the Security Tab of your Server document. “Compare public keys“. It’s usually left blank.

Domino V12 One Touch Setup for real world deployments

By Daniel Nashed | 4/27/21 3:08 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

Domino V12 will introduce One Touch Setup. It's much more than just a basic server setup. You can use it to modify and create documents. Create databases and more. For a container workshop I looked into a more complex example showing how this could look like in production environments.

Last Time updating my SSL Certificate using a KYR file

By Daniel Nashed | 4/27/21 2:24 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

I am using Domino V12 CertMgr for a while with my own custom export logic for the kyr file. The kyr file export in Domino V12 CertMgr was only available until the new crypto to protect the private key was added. You can't export keys today. But you can import keys. So here is a quick step by step instruction how to user CertMgr today with kyr files. Looks complicated. But with native Domino V12 it will be very very easy soon. But this is how you could leverage it today on Domino V12 servers.

Containers are all about automation -- Ansible is a great tool as well

By Daniel Nashed | 4/26/21 2:51 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

One of the most important aspects about containers and images, is that the environment is always the way you define it. You can run the same changes first in a test/integration environment and apply it exactly in production on many environment. It's also about standardization and making installations and updates easier.

Domino V12 Community Image on any container platform

By Daniel Nashed | 4/26/21 2:50 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Starting with the first Domino V12 code drop we already looked into optimizing our Domino Community image, replacing functionality introduced into Domino V12 native -- not even just for containers.

Quick tip - Connection documents with Domino clusters

By Cormac McCarthy | 4/21/21 2:11 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

This is a powerful yet under-utilized feature in Domino. It’s not complicated. In a replication connection document, you can use the Domino server cluster name instead of a server name in the “Destination server” field.

Domino 12 and Borg backup

By Martijn de Jong | 4/20/21 4:39 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

I must admit that I’m quite excited about Domino 12. I was thinking this morning why actually. The new features in Domino 12 aren’t necessarily groundbreaking. They’re more about fixing things which should have been in the platform already, but were neglected by IBM in the years in which it would have been logical to implement them.

HCL Domino 12 – Active Directory Password Sync (Part 2)

By Ulrich Krause | 4/18/21 3:10 PM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Oliver Busse

During my tests with HCL Domino 12 Beta2 I ran into a couple of issues where the Active Directory Password Sync did not work as expected. The problems are not caused by the beta code. However, I am writing down my observations here, since the errors may also appear later in a productive environment. Maybe my lines will save one or the other a long search.

Domino Unix Start Script Tip: debug logs

By Daniel Nashed | 4/15/21 5:22 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

Maybe I should start writing up tips for some not so well known function in the Domino start script for Linux & Unix .. I implemented some of the functionality just for my own convenience :-) For example when you want to debug an issue. just run "domino archivelog" once to archive your current logs into a zip.

There have been a couple of important changes and additions in Beta 3 for CertMgr. Let me share the highlights from my point of view. And also give some tips to avoid current smaller pitfalls I heard in the community from others testing.
